Scavenger Hunt Sunday Travel Time

This weeks prompts were a challenge as far as tying them all together was concerned. I had to dig into my archives for some of them. After I got them all gathered up, I noticed I took all of them while traveling--even though they were not all from the same trip. Hope you like them!

1. Stripes

My search for stripes ended with a group of photos I took to Kentucky a while back. I spent one on time with my son. We ate lunch at Los Portales Mexican Restaurant went down the street to one of his favorite hangouts and played stripes and solids.

John was stripes and I was solids. Obviously he is the better player. In my defense, he has had much more practice playing pool than I have.

2. Packed

Last weekend I posted pictures of from a trip my husband and I took to Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO. After the weekend we packed our camping gear and personal items inside the car. We told our friends we would stop at antique stores and flea markets along the way home. When they commented on the full car,we assured them we had room for any purchases we might make.

Sure enough, we had to tie the camping gear on top of the car to make room for...

...an antiques treadle sewing machine with SIX really ornate drawers, an old leather briefcase, a stack of school yearbooks, and a few other miscellaneous items. There is always room for more!

3. Travel

I love to photograph cool stuff I see when we travel. It is hard to get good shots when the windshield is splattered with bugs. The washer fluid seems to run out at the most inopportune times!

I often give up on frontal shots and roll the window down. I have found I can get some cool photos through the side view mirrors.

4. Too Cute

I found this snowman suit last year. It couldn't resist buying it. The weather wasn't cold enough for it when we visited our young grandson, but I was afraid he would outgrow it before cold weather. He obliged me and wore it long enough for me to take twenty or thirty photos of him wearing it. It is just too cute on him. I can't wait to photograph my newest grandchild in it. She should be be just about the right size to wear it by the time we visit her next--and maybe it will be cold enough that she will need it by then.

5. Favorite

This is one of my favorite photos taken during pioneer days with our home school group. We arranged a Wagon Train activity for the kids and taught them how the pioneers searched for food as they traveled. I love how these two girls worked together to gather nuts for the journey. The Tonka Truck was not from the right time  period, but the girls learned to make do with what was available, just as the pioneers did.

I hope you enjoyed my take on the prompts for Scavenger Hunt. If you did, I would love for you to tell me about it in the comments. Thank you for stopping by. If you would like to participate next week, click on the link below.

    1. Thanks, Abrianna. I got to sew on my grandmas treadle machine when I was a young teenager. I have loved them ever since, but have never had one in working order. They possess a beauty the newer machines can never have.

I'm not very good at pool either but it is fun to play and yep, they have stripes.
Shots out the window or through the mirrors are fun. Loved that Snowman suit, it is cute.

    1. Thanks for your comments, Ida. I like pool from the first time I played at a friend's house in 7th grade. That was a very long time ago. I might have got to play a dozen times since then. Not enough to get proficient. :)
