Scavenger Hunt Sunday--Week 24

Scavenger Hunt Sunday--Week 24

My weeks have been so busy they are starting to run together. It seems I just got home from the writers conference in Kansas, and now I'm at the Antique Show in Conway Arkansas and getting ready to pack up from it tomorrow. I fell asleep so many times while choosing five pictures for today's post that it took me over an hour to get it done. I would love to go home tomorrow night and sleep for two or three days. For now, though, I need to get this post finished before I fall asleep again, so here goes!

1. Neglected

This evening after we closed our booth, Joe and I went to see a friend at his antique store. He had some great old signs. This one looks a little neglected, but it's purpose was remind drivers to pay attention and be aware of children who are playing in the area. Neglecting to do so could result in a fatal accident.

2. Signs of Spring

While out, we saw this tree in bloom. Joe said it is a wild black cherry tree. I'd love to come back and take more pictures after the fruit matures and ripens.

3. Last thing you bought

We bought this old motel key and fob from him. I am familiar with this style from vacationing with my family as a child. Most motels today use the cards that you swipe to unlock the room door. If you forget and take the card with you, it's no big deal, they just activate a new card. Notice the "sign" on this key fob says "drop in any mail box. We guarantee postage." If you forgot and took the key with you, they needed it back, so they used these fobs with their address on them to make it convenient for you to return the key.

4. Shadow

I went outside Chris' store to find shadows. The sun was behind me, so I tried to capture my own. The big shadow on the ground in front of the door and extending up into the glass is mine. I used an orange filter in my cropping program to bring it out a little better. I like the thin shadows of the roll of barbed wire on the left door better than my own.

5. Four things

This scene caught my attention as we waited for the traffic to clear enough for us to cross Highway 64 on on the way back to our motel. I was intrigued and delighted with the differences in the four houses.

Thank you for stopping by my blog today. I would love for you to leave a comment. I will be commenting on your photos tomorrow evening after we are finished packing from the show. Have a great Sunday!

  1. #3 and #4 are my favorites--I especially like the barbed wire in #4. The filter you applied had excellent results.

  3. Very nice set.
I always chuckle at the wording on signs like your Neglected photo. Loving the rust on it.
Pretty & delicate blooms on that bush.
Neat Key, I think somewhere I have the key to the cabin we stayed at on our Honeymoon. I accidentally took it home with us and never mailed it back.
Great processing on the Shadow shot.
Those houses are pretty neat looking.
