Scavenger Hunt Sunday--Week 13

Once again I am at a show during the time I should be taking photos for Scavenger Hunt Sunday. I wasn't able to get any fresh pictures today, so I had to choose some from my archives. I had a particularly difficult time choosing ones that I thought were 'perfect' for the prompts. I hope they make sense to you all. Here goes...

1. Ribbon

It was already dark by the time we reached the board walkway near the lake on one of our many walks with the grand kids last summer. We spotted this spider on the other side of the railing with the aid of a flashlight as we walked. It took several attempts with different settings to get this shot. I was quite pleased with how the ribbons of silk that the spider had spun showed up in this particular picture.

2. Writing or Letters

We rescued this old typewriter from a flea market. It's probably not far off in style from the one my dad had and that I learned how to type on when I was around 12 years old. Later I was privileged to use an IBM electric in High School, which spoiled me, but not as much as the computer I now use has. I have done much writing on all three types. The one in this photo is not of much use for its original purpose, so we cut the letters off and sold them to crafters who re-purpose them into jewelry.

3. Notice

I notice so many things as we travel down the highway that I want to photograph. It is a real challenge to get them to come out half way decent while moving along at 70 mph (while my husband is driving, of course). This truck is one of my 'drive by shots' as I like to call them, that actually came out to my satisfaction.

4. Silhouette

This is yet another shot from our walk at the lake. I got my husband to pose for it. Do you recognize the hat?

5. On Water

These guys were taking turns jumping into the water from the top of the falls. I stood photographing them for close to 30 minutes. They would each land on the water but after only seconds they were submerged underneath with the water splashing all around them. The guy who jumped after the one in blue shorts spent close to 15 minutes taking a run at it then backing out. He finally got up enough nerve to take the leap. Sadly, he somehow got a bad sprain out of the deal. I felt sorry for him. I have no desire to try such a jump and I doubt he will want to do it again either!

I have posted this set of Scavenger Hunt Sunday photos to the following link. If you would like to participate just click on the guy with the magnifying glass below to find out how you can join in the fun.

  2. I like how your mind travels in this hunt today. What fun photos, of places that would be a treat to visit on my snowy, and blowing winter morning!

  8. Eva, thank you for nominating my blog. I think it is a great idea and I plan to participate. I don't know many bloggers, so I am looking through some randomly to find ones that I like that meet the criteria. Hopefully I will be able to get it done this week.
