Scavenger Hunt Sunday Photography Session

Sorry I missed last week. Happy to have gotten some shots in this week.

1. Details

Earlier this week I read about the lunar eclipse dubbed the Blood Moon, because of its appearance--not that it was actually blood. I wanted pictures, but knew I would not get up before daylight. I opted to get my shots the night before. It wasn't the same, of course, but I am happy with what I got. I was happy with the details of the leaves captured by shooting it through the tree.

2. Friend

The variety of color in the sunset a few nights before the lunar eclipse fascinated me, reminding me once again that my best friend, the Creator of it all, is the greatest artist there ever has been and ever will be! Thank you, God for this scene.

3. Comfort

This gal was having her lunch in the comfort of her playground. She let me take dozens of photos from below with no concern for safety in her familiar place.

4. Above

This photo was also taken the night of the lunar eclipse. I shot it between the trees, straight above me.

5. New

This shot is the beginnings of the used bookstore we are making in our storage unit flea market. This how it looked by last weekend.

We opened the other side of the unit and expanded early this week. The new shelves in the other half of the unit are waiting to be filled fill more books. Hopefully it will be finished by the end of next week.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope you enjoy my interpretations of the prompts for this week. I would love for you to leave a comment about your favorite shots.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday 8-31-14

August ends today. I barely even knew it was here. This year is flying by--no wonder I'm exhausted!

Joe and I have worked hard this summer. We are excited to see the progress we have made in our quest to organize the storage building. Within a few weeks we should be ready to have a 'clearance sale.' We have been fine-tuning our resale/antique business in hopes of making it more manageable during the years we should-but-will-never-be-able-to retire. My response to today's prompts give a peak into our plans for the future of our business.

1. Back to School

School has already begun for most children, but as a home school mom, I always waited until after labor day to start classes. This is the second year that I have had no children to teach. I ran across this book in storage and decided to add it to my personal library anyway.

2. Family

Several years ago, my brothers and I decided to start a reunion for our immediate family. The girlfriend of my nephew took this family photo with my Canon. It amazed me to see so many people all looking at the photographer, and most even were smiling!

3. Books

Joe and I share a love of books. We have bought out many book sales over the past few years. He once had a used book finding/locating service. I have wanted a used bookstore for years. A few weeks ago we happened upon a storage unit / flea market a few miles from our home. Of course, we had to stop and shop.

We were intrigued with its success and decided to set up a book store in one of the units. For the next few weeks, Joe will be building bookshelves and I will be filling them with books. Not only is it an exciting venture, but is a giant step toward making our 'non-retirement' easier to manage.

4. Portrait

The building we had our family reunion in had a row of these chairs. They were great for portraits. I thought of the old movies where the stairways lined with paintings of long deceased family members sitting in such chairs.
5. Detail

Joe has tried to get me to sell this old pine box for years.
His 'practical' question for stuff I want to keep is always "What will you use it for?" I don't always know. I just know I like it. Today as we loaded books into the truck to take to our 'store', Joe came up with a great use for it--for me. We took it to the 'store' and set it up on the base of an old table, so that the lid of the box would open down. The second photo shows the detail and age of the box. It should make a great desk for the used bookstore once we are finished with it!

Thank you for visiting my blog today. I hope you enjoyed your peek into my world. I would love for you to leave a comment. Today's post is linked here:
