Scavenger Hunt Sunday--Week 19

This weekend Joe and I spent the weekend doing fun stuff rather than setting up at an Antique Show. We spent several days with the grandchildren then went on to Memphis where I attended a Christian Writer's Conference and Joe shopped the Antique Malls in the area.

Today's Scavenger Hunt Sunday Photos came from the fun part of our weekend.

1. Mini

My granddaughter went shopping with us on the first day of our visit. She had her own money in her purse. She picked out several things and paid for them all herself. This mini hat clipped into her hair was one of her purchases.

2. Shoes

The three oldest grandchildren, Joe and I toed up in a circle to get this shot of our shoes. I hoped to take the shot in the grass, but it was all under the snow, so I settled for the green carpet in the motel room.

3. Mirror, Mirror

Joe picked me up after the writers conference was over and we shopped one last Antique Mall together. It was in a huge building that had been a Wal-Mart. I had hopes of finding a mirror I liked for this prompt but it didn't seem like it would happen. On the next to the last row, this room divider called out to me. At first it seemed that there was a mirror in every hole, but then it appeared that there were no mirrors at all, because I could see through the front ones to more panels of the divider. It appeared as though there were several sets of panels arranged in a circle.

I was intrigued by it and walked around to view the panel on the left side. I stepped behind it and this is what I saw. I was confused at first and went back around front to get a better look. I touched the openings and found that they were all actually mirrors and were reflecting off of each other causing the optical illusion. The big round one in the center was the only one without a glass in it. What appears to be behind it actually is.

4. Shopping

On Friday morning my daughter showed me a set of #Pyrex baking dishes in this crazy daisy pattern and expressed that she would like a set of the #Cinderella style mixing bowls--with handles that double as pouring spouts--also in that pattern. We left her and went our way to Memphis. The first place we stopped after we left her had a set of the bowls in this hard to find pattern.

5. Just Because

One of the #traditions we have is to take the grand kids to McDonalds for ice cream when we visit. They love it. Ok, I kind of like it, too! I took this picture Just Because it seemed like a good way to remember the fun time we had.

I saw this cat waiting by the porch steps when we took the grand kids home. I took a photo of it to share with you today just because I liked it and thought some of you might appreciate it too.

Thank you for visiting my blog today. I hope you enjoyed my version of the prompts for this Scavenger Hunt Sunday. I participate in it every Sunday. If you would like to join in the fun, you can share your photos by linking up below:

  2. It is good to see kids learning how to do things like use their own money to make decisions on what to buy. I love the pyrex baking dishes. I wonder what things we take for granted today will be collector's items in 30 years. I love your mirror. I have been in many antique malls but have never bought anything. They are fun places to visit.

    1. Many of the pyrex dishes are already quite collectible. The set I pictured was priced $65, which is cheaper most of the sets are these days. I have been surprised at how quickly the asking price for them has risen over the past 10 years. Thanks for all your comments.

    1. Diane, thanks for your comments. The shoe idea wasn't completely original. I had seen something similar a couple of years ago with a sports team.

  5. Dawn, thanks for stopping by and for your comments. Ice cream is my cure all food. I do limit it, but I like to keep some in the freezer for emergencies. :)
